Coronavirus Advice

Update 18/06/21

Revised Roadmap for Weddings & Partnerships in England

  • Step 3: 17 May – 20 June – Legal limit of 30 attendees
  • Step 3 Part 2: 21 June – 18 July – Maximum attendees determined by covid risk assessment for each venue
  • Step 4: No earlier than 19 July – No legal limit on attendees (subject to review by Government based on covid data)

We will be emailing couples with ceremonies booked in the different stages with more advice as things progress. If you know you would like to postpone or even completely cancel your ceremony during this period or beyond, please fill in this form: Ceremony Booking Form

We aim to reply to postponement requests as a priority within a couple of working days, and will be prioritising these over requests for new ceremonies – we apologise for the wait, which is taking around 2 weeks in many cases. Cancellation requests will be completed without further contact unless a refund is due.

You can find ceremony forms & guidance (for giving us your vow choices/readings etc) here: More Information – Somerset Registration Services (somersetweddingservice.org.uk)

Please see our latest blog post for more information about booking or postponing ceremonies, booking notice appointments and how to pay ceremony fees while our offices are still affected by social distancing: Blog – Somerset Registration Services

Marriages & Partnerships

Here at Somerset Registration Service, we officiate at around 3000 civil ceremonies across Somerset and North Somerset every year. We are here to guide you through the process of getting married or forming a civil partnership.

In this section you’ll find our step by step guide to giving notice that will help you through the legal preliminaries, and links to book an appointment online at your local registration office. We’ve put together a comprehensive guide to help you plan your wedding or partnership, from what music and readings you can use, to whether you can get married in a garden or include your children in the ceremony.

You’ll also find downloadable guidance for basic and full ceremonies, along with the pre-ceremony check forms for you to let us know what details to include on the day. If you can’t find the answer to your question, just get in touch with the team and we can add it to our guide.
