Welcome to Somerset Weddings

Welcome to Somerset Weddings – the dedicated wedding home of Somerset Registration Service. We are a part of Somerset Council, and we also manage all the birth, marriage and death registrations for North Somerset Council. We officiate at civil ceremonies in our own offices and at approved venues across Somerset and North Somerset. Our team are here to guide you through the legal process of getting married or forming a civil partnership. We also provide a range of other services such as vow renewal ceremonies, naming ceremonies, citizenship ceremonies, replacement certificates and registration of births and deaths. Visit the main Somerset Council site for more details.

We offer simple ceremonies for couples with two witnesses at 6 district offices. Alternatively, you can hold larger weddings in our Taunton, Yeovil, Frome and Weston super Mare venues. As well as register office venues, you can marry at over 110 licensed premises across the county. View our ceremony charges and other fees on our Costs page.

The Old Municipal Buildings, Taunton

Our stunning wedding venue is right in the historic heart of Taunton. The Grade II listed building dates from 1522 and is bounded by Castle Green and Taunton Castle to the rear, making it a gorgeous location for wedding photographs. The Tudor Hall is a magnificent room holding up to 100 people. Alternatively, the Vivary Room is equally grand but can currently seat a more intimate 38 guests. It’s located on the first floor, and is accessible via our beautiful oak staircase or a lift near our reception entrance. We are surrounded by an array of restaurants and pubs that make perfect reception venues for your post-ceremony celebrations. The Tudor Hall is available from Monday to Saturday, while the Vivary is used for ceremonies on Fridays and Saturdays.

We also hold our statutory “2+2” ceremonies here in the Somerset Room, which is a simple office but still located within this amazing building. These ceremonies are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Abbey Manor, Yeovil

This Grade 1 listed 15th Century manor house is the ideal venue for South Somerset weddings. A hidden gem near central Yeovil, it is the perfect blend of historic elegance and urban location. Beautiful stone walls and period features add an element of medieval romance, making your day even more magical. The Mandeville Room is available on selected Saturdays through the year. It’s located downstairs, so it has good access for those with mobility issues. The room is dressed for ceremonies each week, therefore there’s no need to worry about decorations. Ceremonies are held in a Register Office-style format. Couples book an hour long slot that includes a half hour ceremony and time for photographs. Please be aware that confetti of any sort is not allowed at Abbey Manor – on the plus side, that’s one less thing to organise! Please speak to the team to discuss your needs.
