A Rural Wedding Retreat
Nestled in the glorious countryside of the Somerset/Wiltshire border, you’ll find a wedding venue steeped in history. Wick Farm dates from 1372, and was originally built for medieval monks from nearby Hinton Priory. Views of the Westbury White Horse just add to the timeless feel. Their 37 acres of picturesque farmland, populated with horses, sheep, pigs and chickens, offer a perfect rural retreat and heaps of West Country charm. They’ve been hosting weddings for the last 7 years, and are an utterly gorgeous venue.
Medieval Romance
Ceremonies are conducted in the magnificent Upper Barn, where you say your vows below the lofty 600 year old beams. Owners Julian & Sophie Janes have taken care of modern creature comforts behind the ancient facade. You can be cosy all year round thanks the underfloor heating below the oak floorboards. Another period feature that can be used with a modern twist is the Minstrels Gallery – perfect for a photobooth, crèche area or for your band to play that acoustic version of Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” as you walk up the aisle.
After the ceremony, retire to the Lower Barn to eat, drink and be merry. Your wedding breakfast will be exquisitely prepared by Strawberry Field Catering, Wick Farm’s Bath-based catering partner. Anything from a barbeque or hog roast to a sumptuous three course meal is on the menu – not forgetting delicious canapes or a buffet using amazing local produce.
